Sisal
I have been inspired by sisal pictures, which we used to create at primary school. There were coloured strings tightened on the nails that were attached to the frame. These strings created magic three-dimensional space. Later on, I discovered that these are hyperboloids of revolution with amorphous-looking geometric forms, which however arise on the mathematical basis.
The cooling towers of the nuclear power stations are constructed in a very similar way and even the wire-cut technology works this way. Instead of sisal string, there is stretched the resistance wire, which cut the shape to the chunk of titanium.
